Description
The night of the iguana: A defrocked, alcoholic, and emotionally-troubled minister struggles with his desire for earthly pleasures as a tour guide in Mexico. Shepherding a busload of school teachers and one libidinous 18-year old girl, he becomes entangled with the teen, suffers a nervous breakdown when discovered, and strands the group at the remote and rundown seaside hotel of his old friend Maxine. Sweet bird of youth: Chance Wayne, an ambitious man craving fame, returns to his southern home with an alcoholic movie star in tow, Alexandra Del Lago. Hoping to capitalize on Del Lago's fame and checkbook, Chance seeks to reunite with his former girlfriend. He finds he is still regarded by others as an unsavory and unwelcome hustler, especially by the father of his ex-girlfriend, a local political boss. Baby doll: Cotton-mill owner Archie Meighan, married to nineteen-year-old "Baby Doll", looks forward to the day his wife turns twenty and will finally allow him to sleep with her. But he has competition in the form of sly business competitor Silva Vacarro, who covets both Archie's cotton mill and his young and beautiful wife. The Roman spring of Mrs. Stone: Karen Stone is a middle-aged actress whose career is in a tailspin. To assuage her hurt feelings, Karen goes on a vacation to Rome with her husband, who dies en route. Her best friend compassionately arranges for a young Italian escort to keep Karen from wallowing in her grief in Rome. The man hired for the task is sneering, contemptuous Pablo di Leo. Despite Pablo's rude behavior, the lonely Karen throws herself at him, showering him with expensive gifts and demanding his undivided attention.
